The x402 protocol revives HTTP status 402: a server answers a request with a price, the client pays on-chain and retries. Over 50 million such payments have settled on Base, most of them for API calls made by agents.
For a registry this changes everything about acquisition cost: no ads, no sign-up funnel — the agent registers itself the moment it learns registration exists, and partners who embed the SDK get their share automatically.
Card-network alternatives are arriving too: Google AP2 mandates, Visa Intelligent Commerce and Mastercard Agent Pay. We will support them as they leave beta.
