Plain-language summary (not a substitute for the text below). Anyone may implement the AgentID technical standard for free, including commercially, but may not use the AgentID name or logo except to say they conform, and gets no patent or trademark rights beyond that. No warranty.
Language. This document is drafted in English. Translations are provided for convenience only; in case of conflict the English text prevails. Operator. 1. Grant
The Operator grants to any person a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, irrevocable (except for breach) licence to read, implement and build products and services that conform to the AgentID Standard specification (the “Specification”), and to reproduce and distribute unmodified copies of the Specification with this licence attached.
2. Trademarks
This licence does not grant rights in the names or logos “AgentID”, “AgentID Registry” or related marks, except the limited right to state truthfully that a product “conforms to the AgentID Standard vX.Y” or “is compatible with AgentID”. You may not use the marks in a way that suggests endorsement, official status, or that your product is the AgentID Registry.
3. Modifications and extensions
You may create extensions but must not call a modified or non-conforming specification “the AgentID Standard” or imply it is the official standard. Only the version published by the Operator (or the technical committee) is the official Specification.
4. Patents
The Operator grants a licence to any patent claims it owns that are necessarily infringed by implementing the Specification, limited to conforming implementations. This grant terminates for any party that initiates patent litigation alleging that the Specification or a conforming implementation infringes a patent.
5. No warranty; no liability
THE SPECIFICATION IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW THE OPERATOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM ITS USE OR IMPLEMENTATION.
6. Governance and versions
The Specification evolves through public comment and the AgentID technical committee. This licence applies to each published version; a new version does not retroactively remove rights already granted for prior versions.
7. Law
This licence is governed by the laws of the Republic of Armenia.
